Dear Orion community,

As elected Parent Teacher Organization presidents, we are so happy to welcome you to Orion Alternative School, where two exceptional programs: Parent Cooperative (Co-Op) and Mandarin Immersion (MI) flourish on the same campus. These programs create a unique learning environment for our students, and a strong sense of community for parents and guardians. 

 

As a parent or guardian of a student at Orion you are a part of the Starship Orion PTO.

 

With your help, we can greatly enhance our children's educational journey. Parents guide the direction of the PTO and from the feedback this past year, we know that parents want the PTO to focus on enrichment opportunities such as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math), Gardening, and Field Trips in addition to funding tutoring and hosting on campus events. We see our jobs as appointed PTO presidents to focus on the needs of our children and teachers and to model kindness, honesty, and teamwork. 

 

While our school's programs employ different teaching styles and methods, there is a shared understanding that the active involvement of our families is crucial to our success. At Orion, we provide numerous opportunities for families to engage in and outside of the classroom, ranging from material preparation to leading art lessons or co-hosting campus events to planning and chaperoning field trips. Our teachers value the interaction with families, and our community thrives on the connections we build with one another. 

 

We encourage you to explore the various volunteering opportunities and consider signing up for those that align with your interests. Together, we can create a vibrant and enriching experience for our children at Orion Alternative School.
